The Libra Full Moon: Re-Choosing Partnership, Returning to Ayni

The Sacred Balance of Right Relationship
Beloved…
There are moments in the turning of the wheel when Spirit is not asking us to begin— but to re-choose.
This is one of those moments.
Under the light of the Libra Full Moon, we are invited into the sacred act of reassessment.
Not from judgment… but from truth.
Libra, guided by the steady hand of Venus, does not rush.
She does not force.
She simply places everything on the scales…
and waits for us to feel what is out of balance.
Not loudly.
Not dramatically.
But in the body.
That subtle tightening.
That quiet exhaustion.
That inner knowing that something you’ve been carrying…
is no longer in right relationship.
And she asks:
Is this Ayni?
Re-Defining Ayni: Beyond Transaction
Ayni is often translated as sacred reciprocity; Today for you, tomorrow for me.
But Beloved… it is not transactional.
It is not scorekeeping.
It is not “I give so you give back.”
Ayni is a living current of mutual nourishment.
It is:
Giving from overflow, not depletion
Receiving without shrinking or guilt
Participating in relationships where all involved remain resourced
When Ayni is present, the body softens.
We are both held here.
When it is absent, the body speaks.
This is too much…
This is not enough…
Something here is not mine.
Right Relationship Begins Within
Before we can restore balance in love, work, or collaboration…
we must come into right relationship with ourselves.
Because imbalance rarely begins “out there.”
No one “makes us” anything.
Our triggers belong exclusively to us.
It begins the moment we override our own knowing.
When we say yes instead of no.
When we give instead of pause.
When we carry instead of question.
Right relationship with self looks like:
Listening when your body speaks
Honoring your capacity without apology
Don’t add just one more thing.
Letting your needs exist without justification
Enough with ‘make-do’ mentality
Treat your energy as sacred—not endlessly available
And when this begins to shift…
Everything reorganizes.
What Comes Back Into Balance
When you choose yourself—not from ego, but from truth—
your world begins to recalibrate.
You may notice:
Relationships that relied on your overextension begin to shift or fall away
Your “yes” becomes clean, intentional, and grounded
Resentment softens because you are no longer abandoning yourself
Your nervous system begins to settle
And perhaps most importantly…
You begin to trust yourself again.
What Healing Might Look Like
Let me be clear, love—
healing under this moon is not always soft and pretty.
Sometimes it looks like:
Saying,“I can’t do this anymore.”
Acknowledging where you have been out of alignment
Letting grief surface for the ways you have been unseen—or have unseen yourself
Choosing differently, even when it disrupts familiar dynamics
And sometimes…
It looks like making a decision about a cat you love.
A couple weekends ago, I stood in ceremony.
Rattle in hand. Breath steady.
Opening the doorway for my Beloveds to receive their power animals.
Calling them back.
Blowing breath into stone.
Witnessing the sacred return of what had been lost or forgotten.
I was in my role—
the one who retrieves.
The one who restores.
Doing my shaman-y thing.
And it was beautiful.
Aligned.
True.
Every person got the power animal they needed.
And then I came home…
to a cat. Not my cat.
My son’s cat left in my guardianship…
As he launched his life.
My son’s cat had been in my space.
And for a while, I held her.
I fed her.
I tended to her.
I made room.
Because that’s what we do, right?
We step in. We care. We make it work.
And in the beginning… it was aligned.
There was a real need.
There was love in the giving.
But somewhere between ceremony and home…
between retrieving what was lost for others
and tending what had been placed in my care…
something in me spoke.
Quietly. Clearly.
“This is no longer mine.”
And whew… the irony was not lost on me.
Here I was—
helping others call their energy back,
restore their power,
reclaim what belonged to them…
while holding something that no longer belonged to me.
Nothing was wrong.
She’s still sweet.
Still deserving.
Still loved.
But my capacity… my energy… my willingness to carry this…
had shifted.
And that is where healing asked something deeper of me.
I gave my son a deadline.
Not from anger.
Not from rejection.
But from truth.
“I want my life back.”
And in that moment, I understood:
Retrieval is only half of the medicine.
The other half?
Discernment.
Knowing what to call back…
and knowing what to release.
Because Ayni is not just about giving and receiving.
It is about right placement of energy too.
What is mine to hold?
What is mine to return?
What was never mine to carry in the first place?
Healing, in that moment, looked like:
Honoring the shift in my own energy
Acknowledging that what was once generosity had become overextension
Allowing the discomfort of setting a boundary
Trusting that releasing responsibility does not equal withdrawing love
Because it doesn’t.
Forgiveness & Restitution: The Sacred Repair
When we begin to see clearly, something else arises:
The realization that we have participated in imbalance too.
Not from fault…
but from conditioning.
From survival.
From love.
And this is where the work becomes sacred.
Forgiveness
Forgiveness is not dismissal.
It is release.
“I release you from what I needed you to be.”
“And I release myself from what I had to become to stay.”
Restitution
Restitution is Ayni restored in action.
It may look like:
A conversation (Bruh, Sis, Hey You!)
A changed behavior (I’m no longer available for 123)
A boundary that honors truth (I am not the keeper of xyz)
Or it may be internal:
Finally giving yourself the rest, space, and devotion
you once denied.
Re-Choosing Partnership
This Full Moon is not asking you to perfect your relationships.
It is asking you to choose them consciously.
To stand at the threshold and ask:
Does this relationship honor who I am becoming?
Am I showing up in truth here?
Is there mutual nourishment… or quiet depletion?
And then…
To choose again.
A Closing Reflection
Beloved…
You are allowed to have relationships that feel like home.
You are allowed to be met.
You are allowed to rest in reciprocity.
And you are allowed to release anything
that requires you to abandon yourself to belong.
Under this Libra Moon, may you place your heart on the scales
and tell the truth about what you feel.
May you forgive what must be released.
May you restore what can be repaired.
May you reclaim what has always been yours.
And may you remember:
Ayni is not something you earn.
It is something you choose.
Again…
and again…
and again.
G.R.A.C.E. fully yours,
Shamamma Bean
